Continue to the National Museum of Cambodia, which houses one of the world's finest collections of Khmer sculpture and provides an excellent introduction to the history and artistic traditions you will later experience at Angkor.
After time for lunch, explore an important chapter of Cambodia's recent history at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, formerly the S-21 detention centre during the Khmer Rouge period.
Continue to the Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre, commonly known as the Killing Fields. Your guide will explain this difficult period with sensitivity and historical context.
Return to the city in the late afternoon.
To end the day on a more peaceful note, board a comfortable boat for a sunset cruise along the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers.

Continue to Kampong Cham, a pleasant provincial town located along the Mekong River.

Meet the elephants and learn about their individual histories and the conservation work being carried out to protect them.
Walk beside the elephants through the forest and observe their natural behaviour as they forage and explore their surroundings.
There is no elephant riding.

Continue north along the Mekong River to one of Cambodia's most important wildlife areas.
