On arrival at Noi Bai Airport, you are met and transferred to hotel. Ha Noi, Vietnam’s capital is one thousand year old city with peaceful lakes, French styled buildings, old quarter streets, three lined boulevards, brightly painted temples and pagodas. Ha Noi is one of Asia’s most charming cities. (If time permits) we enjoy a short cyclos ride around the the Old Quarter with 36 streets bearing names such as Rice Street, Silk Street or Paper Street to reflect the businesses originally carried on there from the 15th century. We will enjoy an evening performance by Vietnams famous water puppets. Dinner is not included. Overnight in Hanoi.
Breakfast at hotel, A morning sightseeing tour of Ha Noi includes Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature well known as Vietnam’s first university, the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake with its sacred temple and the interesting History Museum. The reminder of the day is free for your own exploration of Ha Noi until we take the night train to Lao Cai. The train conditions are very basic however we will travel in hard sleeper class which is compartment for 6 passengers. Lunch and Dinner is at your own arrangements. Overnight on train.
On arrival at Lao Cai train station we take a drive to Sa Pa. At an elevation of 1,500 meters, Sa Pa is the former hill retreat for French administrators when the heat in plain became unbearable. The remoteness and simple lifestyle of ethnic minorities are a highlight of Sa Pa although conditions are very basic. The afternoon we have enough time to explore the town. Arrival Hanoi , met and Drive to Halong bay - Ha Long Bay boasts one of Vietnam’s most impressive scenic sights. This morning, we embark on a cruise out to explore the picturesque scenery blending with the sky and some 3,000 limestone islands rising amazingly from the clear and emerald water. Breakfast at Hotel. We take a short morning flight to Danang. The tour of central Vietnam begins with sightseeing of Hoi An which was originally a Cham seaport but has been influenced down centuries by a myriad of traders from various cultures. The tranquillity and charm of this town with its low tiled houses of Chinese appearance, Japanese covered bridge, brightly painted temples and pagodas make it one of Vietnam’s most delightful places. Breakfast at Hotel. Heading north of Hoi An is Hué, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. The scenic route passes through Danang before climbing over the spectacular pass of Hai Van and dropping down to the picturesque fishing village of Lang Co. On our journey we make stops at the sensational Marble Mountains and the display of Cham’s sculpture. Upon arrival we take a boat trip on the Perfume River, stopping at the beautiful pagoda of Thien Mu and the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang, in the tranquil setting garden and lakes. Breakfast at hotel. The Imperial Citadel and the elaborate mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc are also visited this morning before we board a flight for HCMC. Ho Chi Minh City, contradiction of its northern counterpart, is crowded with bikes and motorbikes, excited by numerous shopping area and sidewalk cafés. An afternoon city tour of dynamic Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by many locals, includes the Nôtre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office, a lacquer ware factory, the bustling Chinatown and Giac Lam Pagoda. Breakfast at hotel. Today, we head out of town to Tay Ninh, the head quarter of Cao Dai region. On arrival we attend the fantastic mid-day temple service when the followers fill the hall wearing colored robes, a symbol of the curious combination of the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. On return trip, we also make stop to explore Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. Lunch and Dinner at your own arrangements. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
Breakfast at hotel. After two hours by road from Ho Chi Minh’s bustling streets, we start venturing into the watery world of the Mekong Delta. As a highlight of the trip, we take a cruise along narrow waterways through the lush vegetation to an orchard garden where we have the opportunity to visit local homes as well as enjoy a lunch followed with seasonal fruits.
